On Monday, June 30, 2025, KPTT Salatiga, represented by Willy Kutanata, Education Coordinator, flew to the city of Medan, North Sumatra. At Sunteran, the SCMM Sisters Community of Tanjung Selamat was ready to welcome the training on Basic Farming and Hydroponics. Being on a different island posed no obstacle—KPTT excels not only at its home base in Salatiga, but also in bringing agricultural knowledge directly to various regions.

The event was divided into two sessions: indoor theory and hands-on practice. The sisters listened to presentations on planting techniques, followed by a practical session applying their new knowledge using hands-on methods.

During the practice session, they prepared growing media by mixing soil, sand, and fertilizer, using chopstick-like sticks to prepare the media before placing the seeds. After covering the seeds with soil, they watered them for the first time. Next, the hydroponics session introduced rockwool as a soil-less growing medium, facilitating seed planting with a controlled water system.

With adaptive learning methods and experienced mentors, KPTT Salatiga proves that quality agricultural education is not limited by location. Every program—whether Live-In, Field Trips, or special visits like the one with the SCMM Sisters Community of Tanjung Selamat, Medan, North Sumatra—is designed to foster independence, innovation, and environmental stewardship. For institutions or communities seeking to enrich their agricultural knowledge, KPTT Salatiga stands as a reliable benchmark.
