On Sunday, June 13, 2025, six children with special needs from AGCA Center Semarang—accompanied by eight chaperones—visited KPTT Salatiga. They were taken on a tour to observe mini greenhouses filled with vegetable seedlings, feed livestock such as cattle and goats, and participate in an overplanting session: mixing fertilizer and sand, then repotting lettuce seedlings into a new medium. Each child was encouraged to feel the texture of the soil in their hands, learning that caring for plants is enjoyable. This exciting new learning moment proved that with proper support, children with special needs can demonstrate remarkable enthusiasm for learning.

KPTT Salatiga is an inclusive educational institution in the heart of Salatiga City that opens its doors to everyone—including children with special needs—to explore the world of agriculture and livestock farming. The Area 1 Field Trip program and overplanting practice are flagship offerings, supported by facilities such as a mushroom house and cattle enclosures. Through a hands-on approach, learning at KPTT goes beyond theory to direct practical involvement, allowing participants to experience it firsthand while fostering environmental care.

Children with special needs, who may have physical, mental, or emotional differences compared to their peers, are often viewed as having limited capabilities. However, this visit demonstrated the exact opposite: they are bright and capable, simply requiring friendly learning methods and dedicated support. At KPTT Salatiga, every step they take—from getting acquainted and directly interacting with planting media such as soil to watering plants—is fully appreciated. These integrated, end-to-end activities serve as concrete proof that agriculture is an inclusive space where every child can flourish to their fullest potential.

If you would like to visit KPTT Salatiga, we offer a wide variety of programs and durations that can be tailored to your needs. For further information, please reach out via our contact page here.
