Students from SD Pangudi Luhur Yogyakarta traveled from afar to visit KPTT Salatiga on Thursday, December 5, 2025, to participate in field trip and overplanting activities—attended by around 152 enthusiastic children throughout the program. This activity was designed to broaden the students’ knowledge: from light explanations on crop and livestock farming to hands-on practice in one of its activities: plant overplanting (repotting). The atmosphere at KPTT felt lush, natural, and ecological, keeping the children comfortable and enthusiastic as they participated in all activities across KPTT Salatiga’s areas.
In Areas 1 and 2, participants explored the nursery propagation station, fish ponds and edible frog ponds (bullfrogs), mini greenhouse, mushroom cultivation house, livestock pens, and viewed pets such as guinea pigs. Throughout the activity series, 16 friendly staff members accompanied the students here. Practical explanations from staff nurtured curiosity; children learned not only through theory but through direct experience.
The short trip to Area 3 was taken on an open pickup truck for about 5 minutes, passing through villages and natural woodlands that added to the excitement. In Area 3, they took a close look at the pig farming facility; KPTT staff explained the production process in broad strokes so the children understood the livestock production chain. Overplanting was the highlight of the event—children planted together and learned how to care for seedlings. And they could take the products home! KPTT emphasizes practical, sustainable, and character-building agricultural education programs; it is the most suitable and comfortable place to gain a deeper understanding of agriculture and livestock farming: complete education in a lush, ecological setting.
