KPTT Salatiga welcomed 49 children from KB-TK Kanisius Cungkup Salatiga for an adventure-filled field trip on Thursday, September 26, 2024.
As part of the day’s activities, they were introduced to the overplanting technique—repotting seedlings into a new medium. The activity began with preparing the growing medium, consisting of a mix of soil and fertilizer. The children enthusiastically engaged in the process. Despite their very young age, their immense curiosity made them eager to learn and enjoy every step.
Once the growing medium was ready, the agenda proceeded with the overplanting activity. Seedlings and equipment were provided by the KPTT Salatiga team, so the children only needed to bring their enthusiasm and energy. Together, they repotted the seedlings into new polybags, carefully covered the roots, and watered them for the first time. This moment will surely be a cherished memory to last a lifetime, as for many of them, it was their first direct experience with farming.
Besides planting activities, the children were taken on a tour around the KPTT Salatiga complex to get a closer look at agriculture and livestock farming. They had the opportunity to view nursery propagation for various crops and feed cattle directly.
